In the State of Iowa, drivers should obey the law and move over or slow down when approaching stationary vehicles with flashing lights activated. 

Rules of the Road
This Iowa law is designed to protect the safety and welfare of motorists and utility employees working along Iowa’s roadways. Therefore, Iowa law requires motorists to:         

  • Change lanes or slow down when approaching stationary emergency, maintenance, and utility vehicles with flashing lights activated. (Iowa Code section 321.323A)
